As assistant to the president, Vanessa reports directly to the president, providing support to the president and managing the daily operations of the Office of the President. She also supports many administrative functions, human resource needs, the university's preparations for Board of Regents meetings, executive position searches and other miscellaneous administrative duties. Vanessa has been with TTUHSC El Paso for a total of 14 years; she worked for a Fortune 100 company as an operations manager for four years prior to returning in 2010. Vanessa is a native El Pasoan and proud graduate of Loretto Academy. Her academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a Computer Information Systems concentration and an M.B.A. in health systems from the University of Texas at El Paso. Vanessa is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, and will graduate in December 2016. She is an active member of the national Dean's Assistant Group, as well as a member of the United Way Young Leaders Society and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs. She was recently named chair of the Local Employee Committee for the SECC El Paso region. She enjoys watching football on Sundays and spending time with her new husband and stepchildren, as well as her daughter, the apple of her mother’s eye.
Andrew Hagar, B.P.A., is the Executive Administrative Associate for the Office of
the President at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso)
and provides administrative support for the Faculty Senate and all Faculty Senate
Prior to joining TTUHSC El Paso, he worked for the City of El Paso for 5 years, working at the Zoo, Municipal Court, El Paso Water Utilities and the Department of Public Health in administrative and supervisory roles. Before working for the City of El Paso, he served 8 years in the Unites States Marine Corps. Andrew brings over 15 years of administrative support experience to TTUHSC El Paso.
Andrew earned his Bachelor of Public Administration with a concentration in Business Relations from Park University.
Joe Diaz brings enthusiasm to his role in the Office of the President. He is a native of El Paso. Joe graduated from Hanks High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Phoenix. While pursuing his degree, Joe served as a lead supervisor at Fed-Ex for three years and served a total of 11 years of employment in various roles. Soon after receiving his degree, he moved to Denver, Colorado and gained experience at Saint Anthony’s Hospital. Joe returned to El Paso in 2015. Joe enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and taking in all that life has to offer.
