As assistant to the president, Vanessa reports directly to the president, providing support to the president and managing the daily operations of the Office of the President. She also supports many administrative functions, human resource needs, the university's preparations for Board of Regents meetings, executive position searches and other miscellaneous administrative duties. Vanessa has been with TTUHSC El Paso for a total of 14 years; she worked for a Fortune 100 company as an operations manager for four years prior to returning in 2010. Vanessa is a native El Pasoan and proud graduate of Loretto Academy. Her academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a Computer Information Systems concentration and an M.B.A. in health systems from the University of Texas at El Paso. Vanessa is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, and will graduate in December 2016. She is an active member of the national Dean's Assistant Group, as well as a member of the United Way Young Leaders Society and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs. She was recently named chair of the Local Employee Committee for the SECC El Paso region. She enjoys watching football on Sundays and spending time with her new husband and stepchildren, as well as her daughter, the apple of her mother’s eye.
Geisha Soto is a longtime employee of TTUHSC El Paso and has worked for the university in different capacities since December 2009. Geisha was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Bel Air High School, and from Park University at Fort Bliss, Texas with a dual bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resource management in May 2015. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in instruction and curriculum with a concentration in bilingual education at the University of Texas at El Paso and will graduate in 2017. Geisha’s extensive background at the university allows her to communicate clearly and effectively with personnel from other departments. As an active TTUHSC El Paso Spanish Lab facilitator, she enjoys helping faculty and medical students enhance their bilingual skills to meet the needs of our increasingly multicultural community. Geisha is a proud Army wife and mother of two who enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones.
Joe Diaz brings enthusiasm to his role in the Office of the President. He is a native of El Paso. Joe graduated from Hanks High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Phoenix. While pursuing his degree, Joe served as a lead supervisor at Fed-Ex for three years and served a total of 11 years of employment in various roles. Soon after receiving his degree, he moved to Denver, Colorado and gained experience at Saint Anthony’s Hospital. Joe returned to El Paso in 2015. Joe enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and taking in all that life has to offer.
Manny Vasquez was born and raised in El Paso. He graduated from Riverside High School and graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Health Promotion. Manny plans on continuing his education and earning a master’s degree. He brings with him many years of experience in customer service, having been employed at Walmart for nine years, where he was cross trained in most areas. Manny is a huge sports fan, both playing and watching, and enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
