Healthy Homes Workshop
Healthy Homes Workshop

Overview and Target Audience

This training leads participants to an understanding of the connection between housing and health and how to take a holistic approach to identify and resolve problems that threaten the health and well-being of residents, especially children. The curriculum identifies root causes of health problems that are influenced by the indoor environment and focuses on the seven key elements of a healthy home: keep it dry, clean, pest-free, ventilated, safe, contaminant-free and maintained. The workshop will also focus briefly on lead and potential exposures in the home.

This course is designed specifically for environmental health paraprofessionals, community health workers, school health workers, housing advocates, code enforcement inspectors, other public health front-line workers, and the community who are involved in health promotion and disease prevention.
