Creating a Quick Text

Last week we covered some global quick texts that allow you to insert patient information into your note. This week we are going to review how to create your own quick text.

From any section(Desktop, Chart, Registration and Appt.) in EMR go to the top left-hand side menu:
  • Click Options

  • Select Quick Text

  • Change the quick text view to Personal Use

  • Type your abbreviation in the Replace field and the sentence to replace it with in the With field. Please make sure to add a period before your abbreviation.

  • 5. Click Add
Note: If you want to add a quick text to the global list for the entire clinic/institution to use, please request this using the EMR Request Application.

To Edit an existing quick text:

  • Follow steps 1-4 above and for step 5 you will notice the Add button will now display as Replace

  • Click Replace
To Delete a quick text:

  • Select the quick text you will like to remove from the left hand side list

  • Click Delete

Document Properties � Tip of the Week

Depending on your level of access in EMR you might be able to change the following document properties after a document is signed:
  • Document Type

  • Confidentiality Type

  • Location of Care

  • Visit ID

  • Summary

  • Provider

  • Ext. Attachments

Today we will cover 1-5. To make a change to the document properties you will need to be inside of the patient’s chart in the documents tab:
  • Select the document you would like to update

  • Right-Click and select Change Properties from the menu

  • Edit the information you need to update by select from the drop-down menus and typing in the appropriate fields

  • Click Sign

EMR Known Issues

There are currently 2 EMR Known Issues:
    • We are working with UMC and ECH to stop getting lab results and imaging results for inpatients.
    • We are working on mapping of labs in Flowsheets.
    • We are working on Faculty not getting Resident Labs. – Fixed 03/27/13
