Internal (from Texas Tech Providers) Referrals:

If the patient was referred to you by a provider from inside Texas Tech, you will now see the form below at the end of your visit. Please click the green button on this form to sign and complete the referral in the Referral Management System (RMS) and close the loop on the internal referral.

External (Non-Texas Tech Providers) Referrals:

If the patient was referred to you by a provider from outside Texas Tech, you will now see the consult letter back in the letters module (screenshot below) to be printed out after the visit, either by you or your staff, to e-fax/mail back to the referring provider. An example of the letter is shown below.

If the patient was referred to you from an internal provider, the referral will be completed for you automatically in the Referral Management System, when you go to the Meaningful Use form at the end of your visit to review the form and generate the Clinical Visit Summary (CVS).

A member of the CIS team will be visiting clinics to give more information and answer questions on this change.

Referral Management Process & Ordering Referrals:

In an effort to streamline the referral management process, the previous method of specialists ordering referrals as an “Order” is being phased out. You will now see the form below in your office visit to create a printout with information and instructions for your patient regarding any referrals you may suggest the patient obtain from their primary care provider or directly through the specialist if the patient does not have insurance requiring a referral from their PCP to see a specialist.

If a provider has a patient that requires an evaluation or further assessment, please use the form below. Once this is done, please click the orange button to print a handout for the patient, as well as copy the information into your patient instructions.

A member of the CIS team will be visiting clinics to give more information and answer questions on this change.
