Jonathan Tull, M.D.
Hometown: Austin, Texas
Undergrad: University of Texas at Austin
Medical School: University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio
Favorite thing about El Paso: Every morning when I wake up and look out my window, I see mountains. The people here are nice, the food is good, and the traffic is more than tolerable. Most importantly, El Paso has a unique mix of pathology. We get plenty of patients from across the border with a variety of infectious disease, trauma, and common ailments that have progressed much further than what is commonly seen in most of the United states. You will see things like neurocysticercosis, ruptured appendicitis, snakebites, weird toxicology, plenty of sepsis, and the most extreme cases of unmangaged chronic medical problems.
Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, which include fishing, hiking and camping. Cooking and homebrewing are also favorites. I also like to play music as a serious amateur.
Random factoid: I have an undergraduate degree in music performance, and used to play saxophone professionally.
Plans after residency: I plan to stay in Texas indefinitely, and I would like to practice in a community setting for a while. Critical Care Medicine has always interested me and I will probably pursue fellowship in that area when I feel ready. Besides medicine, I plan to buy a piano, fish all over the world, and finally cook with good ingredients.
