El Paso


El Paso, Texas is a great place to live. Spectacular sunsets and mountains rising to 7,000 feet create beautiful sceneries. With 350 days of sunshine, El Paso's temperate and dry climate is ideal for outdoors enthusiasts.

Throughout the year, there is golf, tennis, biking, hiking and other outdoors activities. Within a short two hours drive are New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Gila Cliff Dwellings, White Sands National Monument, Elephant Butte lake and the resort areas of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso where winter skiing is outstanding.

The city is located between three states and two nations. It offers diverse cultural opportunities. There are century old Spanish missions, art museums, theaters, opera, rodeos and western dancing all playing a part in the mosaic that is El Paso. Needless to say, there is excellent Mexican and Southwestern food.

The city has approximately 700,000 habitants. It is separated from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico by the Rio Grande. The river delineates the U.S. and Mexico border for thousands of miles as it runs into the Gulf of Mexico. The El Paso/Juarez metropolitan area has approximately 2.5 million habitants creating one of the largest border communities in the country. You will find El Paso to be a thriving, dynamic and complex community, combining the advantages of a big city with the neighborly charm and ambiance of the modern southwest.

A revitalized DOWNTOWN provides opportunities to live, work, shop and play while fostering a productive and energetic economy for all citizens of El Paso. DOWNTOWN El Paso is renewing itself with a revitalization program guided by the DOWNTOWN 2015 Plan. The plan sets a vision through which the public and private sector work together to increase the value and attractiveness of the DOWNTOWN area. The DOWNTOWN Plan was adopted by the El Paso City Council on Oct. 31, 2006 and it is well on its way to being implemented.
