Surgery Residency Programs
While resident physicians are responsible for patient care, the degree of resident involvement increases throughout each program year. During the chief year, residents reinforce their expertise as they assist in teaching and supervising medical students and junior-level residents.
Surgery Research and Publications
The objective of research is to prepare residents to evaluate literature, which requires a certain amount of discipline, a regular reading schedule and some information that has not been covered in medical school.
The Department of Surgery is proud to announce and congratulate the following Chief Residents with their Fellowship endeavors.  Ziad Kronfol MD, Colon & Rectal Surgery Fellowship at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital (Columbia University) in New York.  Kinzie Matlock, MD, Surgical Breast Oncology Fellowship at The Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania. Victor Phuoc, MD, Surgical Oncology Fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Congratulations!
