Surgery Residency Programs
While resident physicians are responsible for patient care, the degree of resident involvement increases throughout each program year. During the chief year, residents reinforce their expertise as they assist in teaching and supervising medical students and junior-level residents.
Surgery Research and Publications
The objective of research is to prepare residents to evaluate literature, which requires a certain amount of discipline, a regular reading schedule and some information that has not been covered in medical school.
Alonso Andrade, M.D., Chief Resident, General Surgery Residency Program and Alan H. Tyroch, M.D., F.A.C.S., Professor & Chair of Surgery recently published a case report entitled “Brachiocephalic artery & subclavian vein injury with embolization to the pulmonary vasculature” in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports.
Congratulations Dr. Andrade and Dr. Tyroch on your recent publication!
