About the Garbar Breast Care Center
There were 5,018 visits to the center in 2011 - 1,200 of these visits were from new patients. There were 133 new cancers identified, which is more than one-third of all new breast cancers identified in the El Paso community. One of out of every 10 new patients to the Sadie and Annabelle Garbar Breast Care Center is diagnosed with breast cancer. Additionally, a wide variety of benign conditions are evaluated and treated.
The center receives referrals from 70 community agencies and physicians. To subsidize the cost of care, the Sadie and Annabelle Garbar Breast Care Center collaborates with the Wolslager Foundation, Helen of Troy, MIMCO, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation, the McKee Foundation, and the Shiloff Family Foundation. Additionally, through fundraising activities, the center receives financial support from local businesses and individuals.
The Sadie and Annabelle Garbar Breast Care Center is indebted to the Garbar Family for their generous 2013 gift that allowed the center, formerly known as the University Breast Care Center to take its education, research and patient care mission to another level of expertise. The Sadie and Annabelle Garbar Breast Care Center will focus on recruiting additional national leaders as well as further expand clinical offerings to create a world-class program for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
