Current Projects

VOIP Project

In collaboration with the Information Technology department, Communication Services is in the process of rolling out a modern VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) system across the entire TTUHSC at El Paso campus and its clinical remote sites. The completion of the project will serve a dual purpose. It will replace an outdated telephone system and will provide a more cohesive form of communication across campus.

Currently, there are thirty different telephone systems along with three different phone prefixes. As a result, the ability to route phone calls between various buildings across campus has caused repeated line and call transfer interruptions. The implementation of VOIP will remedy this issue by the consolidation of one VOIP system and one phone prefix. Other benefits of VOIP are cost savings, better ability to manage call flows, and will allow for the provision of call metrics.

The Administrative Support Building, Medical Education Building, and Medical Science Building have recently been upgraded to VOIP.
