Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso and the department of pediatrics have been providing pediatric services to the El Paso and Las Cruces communities since 1975.
The neonatal intensive care unit at University Medical Center of El Paso is the largest unit on the U.S./Mexican border.
A neonatal transport service (ground) and neonatal hotline is available 24 hours a day to physicians in the west Texas and southern New Mexico region.
The transport team is a multidisciplinary effort that is comprised of a board certified pediatrician or neonatal nurse practitioner, level III neonatal nurse and registered respiratory therapist. For mechanically ventilated and/or critically ill neonates, a neonatologist may accompany the team. The neonatal transport team is under constant direction from the transport medical director who is a board certified neonatologist.
With one phone call you will put the neonatal ground transport team of the University Medical Center of El Paso in motion to provide the best care for premature and critically ill newborns. Our team will determine the most medically comprehensive and efficient method of transferring the infant to our SCN.
Our team is committed to provide the highest level of care and the safest and most efficient transport. Our goal is to respond within 30 minutes of receiving your call.
