New IT Maintenance Window — Revised

In an effort to improve TTUHSC El Paso’s security posture, application resiliency, and customer service, the Information Technology department recently participated in an assessment of processes and initiatives that will help us continue to improve on these important measures. One of our initiatives is to establish a maintenance window that will allow us to update systems, servers, and other equipment on a regular basis. In considering the best opportunity for regular maintenance, our main priority was to minimize disruptions, and still allow for university operations to continue as usual.  
 
After careful consideration, the scheduled maintenance window for IT systems will be every Saturday from midnight to 6 a.m. The Saturday morning time frame has one of the lowest overall usage trends; aligns with TTUHSC’s maintenance window; and provides IT staff ample time to test after maintenance has been completed. We recognize the need to plan accordingly in order to adjust to this new schedule; therefore, the weekly process will not begin until May 13, 2017.  
 
We thank you in advance for your understanding as we work to reduce our overall risk, and align our processes to comply with those mandated by state and federal guidelines, which require the regular maintenance of all systems in an expedient manner.
