New Billing Workflow - How To

There have been some changes in the workflow regarding your orders and billings.

Starting 10/17/11, the billers will have access to start an append to the original document with an orders only update. Here, they will place the correct orders/diagnoses, and route them to the provider for review and signature. If the provider disagrees with the fee ticket changes, they will not sign the orders, and will communicate with the coders. Once the provider has signed the orders and document, the coders can now bill for those orders.

Instructions for Providers

  1. Open the document as you normally would.
  2. Review order by clicking on the Orders button.
  3. If you agree with the changes then click Sign Orders.
  4. Click End Update.
  5. Click Sign Document.
  6. If you disagree with the changes, communicate with the coders and do not sign the orders or the document.
Providers – Please make sure to review your desktop daily, as this is where these orders only documents will be routed to. You can find them on the documents tab on your desktop.

Cleaning your EMR desktop Tip of the Week

It’s easy to accumulate items on your desktop and having too many documents, alerts or flags will make it difficult to find the ones you need. The tips below will help you maintain a clutter free desktop.

Part I - Cleaning your Desktop Documents

Part II – Cleaning your Alerts/Flags

How do I know which Alerts/Flags I can safely remove?

Flags/Alerts in bold are unread flags. Flags/Alerts in italics are saved flags that have not been completed & sent to a recipient. It is good practice to review Alert/Flag when unsure of completion.

How do I remove Alerts/Flags from my desktop?

After reviewing a Flag/Alert you have the option to either Reply, Forward ,Convert it to a document or Remove. Either one of those actions will automatically remove the flag from your desktop.

Once an alert/flag is replied to, forwarded, converted or removed it will no longer appear on your desktop.

I accidently removed a Flag/Alert. How can I retrieve it to review?

From the Alerts/Flags tab click on the Organize button on the top right hand side corner of the tab. Under View click on the View removed alerts/flags checkbox then click OK.

Flags are never permanent in a patients chart unless they are converted to a document.

Flags & Care alerts are better managed from the Alerts/Flags Tab.
