Using Keyboard shortcuts in EMR

For those of you who prefer to use keyboard shortcuts rather than clicking your mouse, this article is for you! Below are a list of shortcuts you can use in EMR:

Anywhere in EMR
• CTRL + F – Find Patient
• CTRL + P – Print Menu

On your Desktop (Documents tab with document selected)
• CTRL + J – Append document
• CTRL + O – Open Patient chart
• CTRL + R – Route Document
• CTRL + S – Sign Document
• CTRL + X – Remove Document

In the Appointments Module (with patient selected)
• CTRL + E – Opens Patient Registration
• CTRL + H – Opens Patient Chart
• CTRL + S – Select View (choose appointment book)
• CTRL + W – View Patients past and future appointments

In the Patient’s Chart (not on documents tab)
• CTRL + G – Opens Graph options
• CTRL + H – Opens Handouts menu
• CTRL + T – Opens Protocol Results
• CTRL + U – Update Chart

In the Patients Chart on the Documents Tab
• CTRL + D – Change Document Properties
• CTRL + G – Opens Graph options
• CTRL + H – Opens Handouts menu
• CTRL + J – Append document
• CTRL + N – Organize Chart Documents
• CTRL + R – Route Document
• CTRL + S – Sign Document
• CTRL + T – Opens Protocol Results
• CTRL + U – Update Chart

In a Chart Update
• CTRL + A – Select All
• CTRL + C – Copy
• CTRL + D – Change Document Properties
• CTRL + E – End update
• CTRL + G – Opens Graph options
• CTRL + H – Opens Handouts menu
• CTRL + Q – Find
• CTRL + T – Opens Protocol Results
• CTRL + V – Paste

Using Handouts � Tip of the Week

Did you know that Centricity EMR has hundreds of handouts in the system that you can print out and give to your patients for education on their diagnosis, symptom relief, medication information, and much more?! Below are the steps to find and print a handout:

• Click on the Handouts button on the patients chart

• Click on the binoculars button, go to the search tab, type in what you’d like to find a handout on and click Search

• A list of the handouts including the word you searched for will show.

• Select the handout you want and click OK

• If the handout is available in Spanish, the language option will become active

• Click Print

EMR Announcements

There is currently 1 EMR Announcements:
    • The Texas Tech Neurology Clinic is now live on EMR.

    • We’ve been working diligently to correct the issue of labs not showing in flowsheets. We are correcting different labs each week and this week we have corrected the following:
    • a. HGBA1C, Calcium Urine, Ionized Calcium Serum, Urea nitrogen urine random, urea nitrogen/creatinine ratio serum, T4 Total, FT4 index, Bilirubin serum direct, Bilirubin serum indirect, bilirubin urine

      b. Please report any issues regarding these particular labs not crossing over from the report to your flowsheet.

    • Please dial 215-4020 to reach us.

    • To request to file an EMR document in error please send an e-mail to elpasoemr@ttuhsc.edu. Please do not send alerts or flags for this type of request.

EMR Known Issues

There are currently 2 EMR Known Issues:
    • Rotating residents do not have access to printers or computers in clinic.
      • Clinic must notify EMR department of any residents rotating through their clinic in order for them to be granted access.
    • Please report any lab values not showing in flowsheets after signing the lab report to the EMR, Labs proxy box in EMR.

As always we are working to resolve these issues in a timely fashion and will keep you updated on their status.
