ATACS and the Collaborative Education Program (CEP) at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso

In 2016, Hoi Ho, M.D., former director of the ATACS Center, began exploring opportunities for educational exchanges with several medical institutions in Vietnam. In January 2017, Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A., president of TTUHSC El Paso, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two institutions in Vietnam: the University of Medicine and Pharmacy-Ho Chi Minh City (UMP-HCM) and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (PNT-UOM), also in Ho Chi Minh City.

The three main goals of this five-year MOU are:

  1. To provide technical support for UMP-HCM and PNT-UOM in the development and establishment of self-sustained faculty development programs. These programs will help support the implementation of the institutions’ competency-based medical curricula.

  2. To provide technical support and training for UMP-HCM and PNT-UOM faculty in developing and establishing their own standardized clinical simulation centers.

  3. To explore and develop opportunities for educational exchanges between students, faculty and researchers.

The ATACS Center is proud to be working with our partners in Vietnam. As of February 2017, TTUHSC El Paso ATACS faculty and specialists have provided on-site and off-site training opportunities to our Vietnam counterparts.
