Dear TTUHSC El Paso family:
Our leadership has been informed that a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
El Paso student has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) while traveling
in California. The student has been self-isolating in El Paso and has not been on
the TTUHSC El Paso campus or training in any of our affiliated clinics since their
return to El Paso.
TTUHSC El Paso leadership has been in direct communication with the student and will
continue to do so to help them through this challenging time. Please know that our
top priority remains focused on the health, safety and security of our entire campus
community. We will continue to update procedures as needed to ensure the well-being
of all.
The El Paso Department of Public Health is also in communication with our student
and those they were in contact with.
As a reminder, we encourage everyone to engage in proper sanitary practices, such
as frequently washing their hands, and cleaning surfaces in which they come into frequent
contact. We also highly encourage everyone to practice smart social-distancing, such
as maintaining a six-foot distance between individuals and avoiding large gatherings.
TTUHSC El Paso leadership will continue to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19 in our
area and update our community as more information becomes available. Please visit
TTUHSC El Paso’s COVID-19 website for all announcements, answers to frequently asked questions and resources for students
and employees.
Thank you for your continued attention and cooperation.
Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A.
