Prescribing Vicodin in EMR

As of January 14, 2014, pharmacies will start to phase out their Vicodin with acetaminophen doses of more than 325mg. Commercial pharmacies have not given any clear guideline for their phase out.

UMC pharmacy has adopted Vicodin with strengths listed below for the formulary:

• 5/325

• 7/325

• 10/325

Presently the old doses exist in our EMR, but we are working with GE to amend the system to remove the old doses and include the new dosing. If you have any questions regarding Vicodin and the new doses, please contact the pharmacy.

Entering Dates into Forms on EMR � Tip of the Week

In order to prevent errors in documentation as well as in the EMR application, all dates entered in EMR need to be entered in MM/DD/YYYY format.

• Do not enter in only a year (i.e. 2006)

• Do not enter in only a month and year (i.e. 05/2006)

• Always use the calendar button to enter in appropriate date

EMR Announcements

There is currently 1 EMR Announcements:
    • We’ve been working diligently to correct the issue of labs not showing in flow sheets. We are correcting different labs each week and this week we have corrected the following:
      • a. Microalbumin/Creatinine ratio, CO2 serum total, Creatinine, Cystatin C, Fructosamine, GFR, Glucose, Microalbumin random urine, PSA, Sodium

      b. Please report any issues regarding these particular labs not crossing over from the report to your flowsheet.

    • Please dial 215-4020 to reach us.

    • To request to file an EMR document in error please send an e-mail to elpasoemr@ttuhsc.edu. Please do not send alerts or flags for this type of request.

EMR Known Issues

There are currently 2 EMR Known Issues:
    • Rotating residents do not have access to printers or computers in clinic.
      • Clinic must notify EMR department of any residents rotating through their clinic in order for them to be granted access.
    • Please report any lab values not showing in flowsheets after signing the lab report to the EMR, Labs proxy box in EMR.
