General Statement (El Paso – Alberta Campus)

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine offers 17 approved residency and fellowship programs with around 260 residents and fellows. In addition, the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine serves as a major participating institution for the orthopedic surgery residency program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. All of these residency and fellowship programs meet the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties. The program director of each department manages the recruiting, education, training and evaluation of its residents. The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education are responsible for general oversight and monitoring of all residency programs.

Most of the clinical experience residents receive is provided at University Medical Center of El Paso. Nonetheless, we also have partnerships with multiple hospital systems in the community, including El Paso Children’s Hospital and The Hospitals of Providence.
