Prospective Applicants

Thank you for your interest in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Orthopaedic Residency Program. Each year, we offer one (1) PGY-1 position through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) to complement the four (4) military-matched PGY-1s for a total of five (5) PGY-1 residents.

Prospective applicants for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso are processed through the ERAS system. All complete applications are considered and the deadline for applications each year is November 1st. Applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation, a personal statement, medical school transcript, Dean’s Letter, and an ERAS formatted CV.  We recommend USMLE Step 2 in your application.  There is no score “cut-off.”

Applications are screened by members of the William Beaumont Army Medical Center / Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. Interviews are usually conducted in early January.

Invitations to interview at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Orthopaedic Residency Program are based upon multiple factors, including medical school grades, USMLE scores, ERAS application data, letters of recommendations, and performance on home and away clinical rotations.

One (1) resident appointment is made each year through the National Resident Matching Program. Applications match at the PGY-1 year into the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, an ACGME accredited five-year categorical program. Our NRMP code is 2604821198.
