But she loved the ocean and surfing so much that she overcame her fears and with a lot of determination and hard work became a professional surfer.
Something you would never guess about me is: I am Colombian but I don’t really like coffee.
Why you chose TTUHSC-El Paso: When I came to El Paso for the first time I fell in love with the people, everybody was extremely friendly and kind. I was also interested in the Border Health Program and the opportunity of working with a diverse population.

Why you chose TTUHSC-El Paso: Everyone I met in El Paso during my interview experience was very welcoming. Having the opportunity to observe family-centered rounds during my interview day showed me that this program had faculty and residents who worked together with patients and their families. Additionally, the Border Health curriculum is a unique and interesting component of the program that I look forward to learning more from.

Something you would never guess about me is:Most people would never guess that before my third year of medical school, pediatrics was the last thing on my list of possibly residencies. Once I started my first rotation in pediatrics though, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
Why you chose TTUHSC-El Paso: I chose this program because I feel that the experience we are offered here will serve to prepare us well for any career path in Pediatrics. I also chose this program because I wanted to be able to serve and work in my local community. There is definitely something special about the people and culture of this city and I want to continue to be a part of it for many years to come.

One person I would like to meet and why: Hakeem Olajuwon because basketball was the first thing I truly fell in love with and the sport means a lot to me. Something you would never guess about me is:I love to cook and bake. I always want to learn more about the science of cooking and baking and try new recipes!
Why you chose TTUHSC-El Paso: When I talked to faculty and residents about the curriculum and specifically the advocacy work that goes on, I realized this was a place where I could really grow my interests in public health and learn more about advocating for our patients in different settings by getting hands on experience. I could see how excited people were to talk about these areas and it helped me get even more excited about my future career.
