Wellness

Wellness is more than physical health. It is multi-dimensional. It encompasses several dimensions such as physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental. Our program highly values Wellness and provides residents opportunities for well being, fulfillment, and personal growth.

  1. Wellness Activities
    Our program allots one-half day (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm) of protected time for wellness activities. This occurs every 3 months. Residents engage in fun and exciting activities –bowling, arcade, axe-throwing, food trips, etc. The goal is for residents to unwind, relax, and have fun!

  2. Birthday Month Celebration
    We hold a mini celebration every month for birthday celebrants. We come together as a group in our residents’ lounge for fun, food, and cake!

  3. Residents’ Lounge

    Empowering residents in the improvement of their common space is an effective way to increase the well-being and joy of physician trainees. Our residents have a fully equipped lounge. This is a safe space where residents can gather, eat, and unwind.

  4. Residency Retreat

    Our program hosts a full-day annual retreat, where all residents are excused from clinical duties. This retreat encourages bonding and camaraderie between residents. This also provides residents an opportunity to gather, reflect, and evaluate all aspects of the program. Everyone is encouraged to discuss their experiences and journey over the year. This also serves as a platform to openly exchange ideas and innovations regarding the program.

  5. Spontaneous events
    Despite the hardships of residency, our residents are very friendly and develop strong bonds with each other. Aside from scheduled wellness events, they continue to build this bond through spontaneous meetings outside of work.”
