What you like about El Paso: El Paso is sunny and bright. It is a welcomed change from snowstorms and gloomy east coast weather! I am looking forward to exploring the restaurants and all that the city has to offer.
Interest/Passion/Career Goals: I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, biking, and watching documentaries. I am passionate about integrative psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, juvenile justice system, and healthcare policies and their impact on minorities.
What you like about the program: Having the opportunity to be part of the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship program at TTUHSC brings me great contentment because I will be able to work and help the community where I grew up. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program is well rounded and plays an important role in the community.
What you like about El Paso: El Paso is multicultural; it has strong Latino/Hispanic influences and it has multiple mixed traditions. Returning to El Paso is a great opportunity to help my community.
Interest/Passion/Career Goals: In my spare time I like to cook and spend time with my family. In the future I foresee staying in my community to work and support current programs that are in the process of being developed.
What you like about the program: This program has quite the variety of patients, that will expose me to be successful in learning to help my patients in a better way. The availability of research opportunity is also a plus.
What you like about El Paso: El-Paso is a cozy place, very warm and welcoming people.
Interest/Passion/Career Goals: I love watching movies, spending time with my family, and my future goals are to be hopefully be attached to an academic institution such as Texas tech.
What you like about the program: This program provides a unique opportunity as it is located in a border city that shares both national and state boundaries. The patient mix with diverse backgrounds gives an avenue for trainees to be well versed in various clinical settings, setting the stage for a future as a well-seasoned psychiatrist. This, and the friendly, welcoming nature of staff and colleagues sealed the deal for me.
What you like about El Paso: El Paso, also called the “Sun City", surrounded by beautiful mountains, with the most stunning geographical features in any city in Texas, makes outdoor life a bliss. This location gives an abundant opportunity to bond with nature, from going on hiking trails to viewing beautiful sunsets. El Paso, is an outdoor lover's dream!
Interest/Passion/Career Goals: I love spending time with my family both on indoor and outdoor settings. My passion lies in helping people discover and achieve their potentials, especially as it relates to my roots and the people I serve. While the area of practice my career destination lies is still unclear, the drive to touch each life I encounter in a way that leaves them on a positive track remains constant.
What you like about the program: The diversity of the residents, fellows, and faculty in terms of ethnicity, background and life experiences.
What you like about El Paso: Very friendly people, good food, and the opportunity to be immersed in Hispanic culture and learn Spanish.
Interest/Passion/Career Goals: I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young adults, and women. No particular preference in clinical setting. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family, read and watch shows on Netflix.
What you like about the program: The program had everything I wanted from a child and adolescent psychiatry program.
