Global Health Education Program

The primary goal of this course is not only designed to introduce students to major topics in global health, but also to tailor the knowledge to include theory and real-world practice.

Students will discuss topics that range from ethics, social determinants of health, global burden of diseases, planetary health, refugee and immigration health, and policy to relevant health care issues associated with disease and nutrition.

Global health focuses on worldwide health improvement, reduction of disparities, and protection against global threats, therefore, prioritizing the achievement of health equity for all people.

Students who participate in this course will be expected to read sup- porting material that helps them explore and understand global trends and the need to rethink our approach to global health.

Students will have to address their own misconceptions that could hinder their ability to think critically and accurately about global health.
