Goals and Objectives

TTUHSC El Paso Interventional Neurology Fellowship Program Goals:

Train compassionate and highly proficient clinical interventional neurologists.

Prepare fellows for a productive profession as invasive neurologists in a diversity of professional settings such as a research institution, a university, a teaching hospital, a community hospital, or an outpatient office. (Competencies addressed patient care, medical knowledge, practice based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems based practice).

Expose the fellow to investigator–initiated clinical research and support the design and implementation of individual research projects (competencies addressed: Patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice).

Expose the fellow to value based care, quality improvement, and patient safety projects. (competencies addressed: Patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, system-based practice).

Promote self-assessment, learning and long-term career planning (competencies addressed: Medical knowledge, practice-based learning, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, systems-based practice).

 

TTUHSC EP Interventional Neurology Fellowship Program Objectives

At the end of their training, the fellows will be able to:

Exhibit a fundamental knowledge of the invasive and noninvasive clinical aspects of interventional neurology disorders.

Treat patients in a competent, ethical and compassionate manner taking into account individual clinical variables, the patient's background and preferences, value based care, and the best available evidence.

Formulate a diagnostic and treatment plan while taking into account the setting where care is provided (teaching or community hospital, inpatient and critical care units, outpatient offices)

Choose among several professional opportunities (such as further training, clinical practice, research career, etc.) based on personal interest and long-term career goals.

Understand the major controversies in the field of interventional neurology

Communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues to foster better patient outcomes.
